Sustainable Technology Week

Sustainable Technology Week is one of our signature projects at Oasis of Change. In collaboration with the City of Vancouver, we helped establish an official 2025 proclamation recognizing a full week dedicated to digital sustainability, responsible technology, and the environmental impact of the online world.

Why it matters

Across Canada, there is nothing else quite like it: a full week centered on digital sustainability and Sustainable Technology Week.

The purpose of Sustainable Technology Week is to create public awareness around how technology can be designed, used, and improved in ways that reduce environmental impact. It brings attention to issues such as digital emissions, energy-efficient web design, responsible infrastructure, and the broader role technology plays in sustainability.

In 2025, this work was formally recognized through a proclamation with the City of Vancouver, marking an important milestone for our organization and for the broader conversation around sustainable technology in Canada.

Sustainable Technology Week runs from October 20 to October 27 and is designed to serve as a focal point for education, advocacy, and action. It is not simply a campaign, but a dedicated week that helps frame digital sustainability as a public issue worthy of attention at the city and national level.

As one of our projects, this initiative reflects Oasis of Change's commitment to building a more sustainable digital future, not only through direct client work, but also through public leadership, awareness-building, and systems change.

We are also working toward the next chapter of this initiative and pursuing recognition again for 2026, with the goal of continuing to grow Sustainable Technology Week as a defining moment for digital sustainability in Canada. The 2025 proclamation was signed by Mayor Ken Sim of the City of Vancouver, formally recognizing the week as an official civic occasion.
